Tropicana is a bar like no other, there is no alcohol served but natural fruit drinks are made at the request of the customer.
The owner of Tropicana encourages healthy eating by offering healthy choices at his juice and fruit bar.
Located at the intersection of Lambert and Santa Fe Springs, this small family owned shop has been in business for over five years and has gained many clients whom enjoy the great taste in nature's fruits and vegetables.
"I have many regular customers from all over the city that come in for their fresh fruit," said Manuel Lippmann, owner of Tropicana, "the thing that customers like the best is that we will make it the way they want it, in regards to the types of fruits and vegetables of their choice and that we use 100% fresh fruits and vegetables."
The bionico is a fruit salad that includes cantaloupe, apples, strawberries, papaya, and banana topped with a family secret recipe consisting of cream, granola, raisins, and coconut. It is great in taste and in nutritional value.
The bionico salad can be ordered topped with, honey, yogurt or cottage cheese instead of cream, but cream is the most popular option since it is rich in taste and has a perfect sweetness.
A popular drink offered at Tropicana is the Vampiro, spanish for vampire, which its ingredients consist of beets, carrots and oranges.
There is a list of smoothies, shakes and juices to choose from, but customers may ask for their own personalized smoothie, according to Lippmann.
There is a great variety of flavors for raspados (snowcones) that are also made from all natural ingredients and many other treats such as ice cream, nachos and Tostitos locos, which are a bag of Mexican tortilla chips with toppings such as tomato juice, sauce, cucumbers, peanuts, and pork skin.
Tropicana is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10a.m to 7p.m and on Sundays from 10a.m to 6p.m.
The store offers an indoor dining room and a small outside seating area as well.
Tropicana is the perfect spot for a light sensible meal or an in between meal snack.
