The city of Whittier, a city consisting of a slew of cultures, a variety of eateries and a plethora of hangouts. Uptown Whittier has within it's few blocks, all that suit the needs of the community.

From music to comics, bars to restaurants, theaters to clothing stores, and a wine tasting shop to a smoke shop, it has it all. Robert Salazar Jr, owner of Tom Dank's Tobacco Shop & Accessories/Apparel knew just that.

"I like it alot, it's alot safer here than the last location" said Robert enjoying his now six month stay since their opening. His smoke shop is located on Greenleaf Ave just a short walk away from the Rocky Cola Cafe and Geeks, next to Monte's Camera Shop And N-Joy Burgers.

Tom Dank's Tobacco Shop also works alongside with Vintage Apparel owned by Angelica.

In fact, they share the same address, "It was mainly financially putting our money together to get a bigger spot and then it'd be the same price as we paid before.

But also it works out because alot of the people who buy clothes, like, alot of them do smoke.

They buy cigarettes and pipes and what not" This seems to work out well with all the clientèle in and near Uptown Whittier.

The shop also has had the makers of Felony Fights drop in to purchase a few items as well as sell their dvd's and clothing line. Even their CEO tends to make an appearance now and again.

Even though during these troubled economic times, Robert and Angelica have been able to keep their businesses open to the public by keeping their prices low and affordable. For Bobby, he buys most of the merchandise downtown but also has them handcrafted, buying as much as he can and selling it as cheap as he can for the customer.

The store provides a lot for all smokers including hookah pipes, tobacco, tobacco paper i.e. zig zags, incense sticks, smoking themed t-shirts, lighters, handcrafted statues, posters, miscellaneous accessories and of course, eye drops.

Where Robert Salazar Jr. sees his smoke shop in ten years, "Owning two smoke shops, maybe three. The second one would be in Norwalk or Pico Rivera.

Close enough but not too close" Tom Dank's Tobacco Shop is located with Vintage Apparel at 6543 Greenleaf Ave. Uptown Whittier, CA 90640. Open Tuesday through Saturday from 11am to 8pm.
