If you like music and exploring new types of music this concert cannot be missed! The diverse instruments ensemble is an eclectic group of musicians with a fresh and unique sound. Here is your chance to experience it!
The Rio Hondo college division of arts and cultural programs are presenting the Workman Mill Industrial Orchestra on Tuesday May 19. It will be held in the Wray Theater at 7:30pm and is free to the public.
Steve Moshier is the founder of this unique group. The ensemble is made up of totally different instruments. It will be a mix of electric and acoustic instruments. The type of instruments change each year, it depends on who enrolls in the class, and what instrument they choose to play. Usually there are many instruments that are not found in a "traditional organization".
That is the beauty of this group, all different kinds of instruments blended together to create a new sound each year. One would think if the instruments are not traditional, how do they make the pieces work?
That's all thanks to Steve Moshier who will also be directing the show. He arranges the music especially so that every student has the chance to perform.
Along with the large range of instruments the students are all at different stages of learning. Experts, beginners, and everyone in the middle come together and perform on the same stage together.
The concert will have pieces with the entire ensemble, and also have pieces that small groups within the ensemble will perform. The students will be playing music by Director Steve Moshier, Satie, and Schumann. Mr. Moshier has created a chance for all Rio Hondo musicians to share their gifts and love for music!
This group has given some students that would usually not perform, the opportunity to share there music in front of an audience. If you have any question about the show please contact the cultural events hotline: (562) 908-3492.
